Willbros - Case Study
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, Willbros is globally recognized for its development of pipeline systems and associated facilities installed in any climate or terrain. Willbros has constructed over 200,000 km of pipeline and been employed by more than 400 clients in over 60 countries since its establishment in 1908. Truspace was awarded the entire interior design, project management and construction and outfit of the Canadian Head Office in Edmonton, AB.
With the level of Willbros’ success, they had outgrown their original office and urgently needed a more efficient space to enable their continuing development. Upon receipt of the project, Truspace was faced with three primary challenges including an extremely tight time schedule, the need for an easily reconfigurable interior to accommodate future development and a faculty rebrand to correspond with the Willbros image.
The size of the project, coupled with the time constraint, meant numerous lines of communication, trades and decisions had to be efficiently streamlined in order to create one clear, all-inclusive vision. This is exactly what Truspace specializes in to ensure project accuracy - effectively creating one-point-of-contact to eliminate the risk of duplicating information and the confusion of crossed communication lines. To further encourage communication with Willbros, Truspace generated a weekly report to highlight progress, what was yet to be accomplished and any areas of concern. Modular walls solved the issue of reconfigurable interiors and significantly sped up the project as this lessoned the amount of more traditional wall construction needed.
The new Willbros facility now promotes their image, reputation and brand. Veneer executive offices and boardroom table, glass, polished metal, warm earth tones accented by silver and red create a welcoming, professional, contemporary atmosphere. Willbros not only has the ability to change and reconfigure their space as their needs evolve, but can remove and relocate the modular walls to any future locations. In a remarkable 3½ months the 26,450 sq/ft space was completed and the client moved in exactly on schedule.
